WUYAGIBA COURSES 2025
Accredited University subjects
Since 2021, Macquarie University has partnered with us to deliver two “Micro-credentials”. Each Micro-credential includes two 1st year University level subjects over a 10-week semester (2 x 5-week blocks). Students can do one or both! These subjects offer a pathway to University or upskilling if you want a better job.
Wuyagiba Study Hub Micro-Credential 1: ENVS1000 (Professional Skills) and ENVS1501 (Indigenous Science). Runs for 10 weeks over two 5 week sessions on-Country at Wuyagiba, with a 1 week break in between. SEMESTER 1: MAY-JULY
Wuyagiba Study Hub Micro-credential 2: ACOM1001 (Academic Skills) and ENVS1500 (South East Arnhem Land Caring for Country and Culture). Runs for 10 weeks over two 5 week sessions at Wuyagiba, with a 1 week break in between. SEMESTER 2: AUGUST-NOVEMBER
* Students need to be over 18 and have good English literacy skills

Cultural content
Led by local cultural knowledge experts of South East Arnhem land. ENVS1500 (South East Arnhem Land Caring for Country and Culture) includes Cultural identity, burning, seasons, animal and plants, tool making.
ENVS1501 (Indigenous Science), developed with Wiradjuri scientist Renee Cawthorne. Includes Indigenous Archaeology, Biology, Chemistry, Fire, Cosmology, Engineering and Cultural Heritage Management topics.
Academic content
Our Academic skill building content prepares students for University life or higher level employment. ACOM1001 and ENVS1000 are taught by Macquarie University staff. ACOM1001 includes: computer literacy, English literacy, academic reading and writing, making a website and news report.
ENVS1000 includes: Work Health & Safety, Using a GPS, Making maps and graphs, Excel, Professional Communications.
Our two-way curriculum
Wuyagiba’s two-way University courses are unique. We combine cultural and academic knowledge, on-Country, to build students’ skills, leadership, confidence and provide a pathway to further Higher Education or employment.
Following successful completion of the two courses, students can gain credit for further study. We take students to Macquarie Uni (Sydney) and Charles Darwin University (Darwin) to explore further study options.
